The World Champion New York Giants will kick off the 2012 NFL Season hosting their division rival Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday September 5th 2012 at MetLife Stadium at 8:30 PM ET.
This game is now available for betting at BetOnline Sportsbook and it lists the Champs as 3.5 point favorites with a total of 47.
Dallas made a statement towards improving their bad secondary by moving up in the draft to select cornerback Morris Claiborne as well as getting ex-Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Brandon Carr via free agency. This along with Mike Jenkins gives the Cowboys three pure cover corners and instantly upgrades this unit which has had huge deficiencies the last couple of years. Let’s remember that the Cowboys were one of the better teams against the run last year, and they allowed less than 100 rushing yards per game during regular season, which leads us to believe that this defense should be pretty good on 2012.
The Giants were a 9-7 team on 2011 however got they got hot at the right time. Certainly the rich got richer with their addition of wide receiver Rueben Randle and running back David Wilson, as well as the solidification of their tremendous pass rush with the selection of Markus Kuhn, which should contribute immediately in their defensive tackle rotation. With Eli manning rising to superstar status they will certainly present a challenge in every game.
While games between these two teams traditionally are high scoring affairs, it is also a rule that defenses start the season with a better pace than offenses. That and the fact that both defenses should be pretty decent we believe that the under is the better play for now.
