The Texans will have their 2012 debut at home in Reliant Stadium hosting the Miami Dolphins this Sunday September 9th, 2012 at 1PM ET.

Odds makers at BetOnline Sportsbook have labeled the Texans as 7 point favorites with a total of 43 points.

The Houston Texans finished the 2011 regular season as the team who ran the ball the most, sharing those honors with the Denver Broncos at 34.1 rushing attempts per game despite not counting with Arian Foster early on. This led the Texans to average 153 rushing yards per game, which was second in the league last year behind the above mentioned Broncos, who had Tim Tebow in that equation.

The Dolphins ranked in the top three in defending against the run in 2011, allowing 95.6 rushing yards per game and only 8 touchdowns through the ground; however in their week 2 matchup Ben Tate was able to rush for over 100 yards and Arian Foster adding another 33 yards.

The big question mark for this one is what Miami can do offensively against a very good Texans defense with a superb pass rush. Miami drafted quarterback Ryan Tannehill with hopes of him becoming the quarterback of the future, however it is still unclear if he will be the starter come week one, or if it will be David Garrard or Matt Moore.

This will be a statement game for the Texans. Whatever variable may come from the Dolphins offensively will be put to test against one of the best defenses in the league, a very scary pass rush and a healthy offense, and it is unlikely they can win this one or not lose by more than a touchdown for that matter.
