The Detroit Lions will kick off the 2012 NFL Season at home in Ford Field against the Saint Louis Rams this Sunday September 9th at 1 PM ET.
The Lions are 8.5 point favorites with a total of 46.5 and this game can be played now at BetOnline Sportsbook.
There is one good thing we can say right now about the Rams and that is the hiring of new head coach Jeff Fisher, who brings experience and discipline and will surely be looking to spare Saint Louis of another embarrassing season like 2011 when they finished 2-14.
To put that in perspective, the Rams finished 31st overall on total offense on 2011, just slightly better than the Jacksonville Jaguars. They averaged just 179 passing yards per game and thanks to Steven Jackson did slightly better on the ground, averaging over 100 yards per game. There were no big names added in the offseason, and it is clear that the team will rely heavily on rookies, not to mention they have one of the worst offensive lines in football.
On the contrary, the Lions finished 5th overall in total offense averaging over 300 passing yards per game. They didn’t quite excel in running the ball however Matthew Stafford´s 5038 passing yards certainly made up for it making this a very exciting offense to watch.
We certainly don’t feel any inclination to think the Rams will shock the world, even with a good coach in command. The limitations on this roster are numerous and the Lions should have no problem beating them up on kickoff day. Bet the Lions to cover at BetOnline.
