The New Orleans Saints will kick off the 2012 season at home against the Washington Redskins on Sunday September 9th at 1PM ET.
BetOnline Sportsbook has this game available for betting and the Saints as 9.5 point favorites with a total of 50.5
Rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III will have his first regular season experience taking on the Saints, a team that has had a bumpy offseason with a bounty scandal that led to suspensions of key players as well as their head coach Sean Payton for the entire season.

This is a game where the Saints can come out and make a statement shaking this troubled offseason or we see the quarterback that the Redskins are raving about in Griffin, from who we only expect greatness. One thing though is being able to display greatness in his first game in one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL, against a home team that has all its firepower intact.
All in all, if we look at last year´s defensive stats RGIII could hardly have a more permissive opponent to start his NFL career. The Saints ranked 30th overall against the pass, allowing 259 passing yards per game with 24 TDs. Supposing Washington can run the ball they might just be able to do what it takes to keep the Saints offense off the field.
We all know the Saints will put up points on the board, very likely forcing the Redskins to put the game in Robert Griffin´s shoulders. While a high scoring game is to be expected we believe the Redskins do enough to not lose by more than 9.5 points. Bet the Redskins plus the points now!
