Miami Dolphins veteran nose tackle Jason Ferguson announced his retirement Thursday evening. Ferguson has been a key component of the Dolphins 3-4 defense the past two seasons and has played in a Bill Parcells organization every year he was in the league.
Ferguson started 128 of 159 games in his career. He recorded 569 tackles, 21.5 sacks, along with 12 pass deflections and 6 forced fumbles.
“You get what you put into this game. I would like to thank my family, the fans and the organizations that I have been a part of for their continued support throughout my career, it’s been an absolute blessing to play this long,” explained Ferguson.
“I have built a lot of relationships, you develop an extended family playing this game; I would like to thank that extended family, the teammates, the coaches, the support staffs that have all played a part of a great ride.”
Dolphins Vice President of Football Operations Bill Parcells said of Ferguson: “Jason was a key contributor on three different teams for many years at one of the NFL’s toughest jobs. I am grateful and I will miss him.”
