The Dallas Cowboys have traded WR Patrick Crayton to the San Diego Chargers today in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick.
Crayton confirmed to ESPN that he had been dealt.
Crayton fills a need in San Diego, where the Chargers have been without unsigned Pro Bowler Vincent Jackson since training camp started. Jackson, who wants a long-term contract, has said he’s prepared to sit out the entire season.
In Dallas, Crayton was expendable because of a bevy of talented receivers such as Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and Roy Williams. He had asked to be cut during the summer because he wanted a chance to catch on with a team rather than get cut prior to the regular season.
